Discontinued: Vario-Classic FB Paper

For over 20 years we have been producing ADOX Vario Classic and Nuance fibre based photopapers, which were the new names of the Agfa Classic Arts and Classic Vario.

Due to the great success of the outstanding MCC fiber-based paper, sales of the older papers have steadily declined.

Low production volumes and the increase in raw materials and energy costs have affected the production of Vario Classic and Nunace in a way that it cannot be kept up with a profit anymore.

We therefore decided to stop the production of these two papers.

MCC is capable of replacing both older paper types, as it can be developed to similar image tones yet featuring a wider contrast range, better detail contrast and higher D-max.

Sold as long as stocks last:

ADOX Fine Print Vario Classic® FB
Neutrally black, variable contrast fibre based paper on 250g support.
glossy or matte.

Neutral tone fiber based paper with deep blacks and excellent grayscales.
This paper is coated on the last remaining coating alley which was built especially for coating fibre based papers in the 1950ies. It uses the vertical coating dunk-process and runs much slower than modern horizontal speed-coating machines. Thus our paper can really soak up with emulsion making it extremely silver rhich. This also leads to the necessity to develop it at least 2-3 minutes in order to achieve full dmax and grayscale. The developer and fixer are also faster exhausted, please recalculate their capacity.
The paper´s emulsion is free of additional optical brighteners or incorporated developing substances thus making it suitable for alternative printing, two dish development and other processes. No fade out of optical brighteners over longer exposure to light.
